Papas y Co

The subject of papas y co is the building of personal and social identity. In the video “Papas y Co” I ask my own father questions about social ideas in regard to political and social practices in his private life and the remained island of real existing socialism, Cuba. I examine the relation of the terms “ideology” and “father”. During a journey with my father within Germany, Nicaragua and Cuba I documented conversations, places and encounters and cut the material together in a fragmented way. The author is at the same time daughter, cameraman and cutter. The film is different from conventional documentary films because of its personal narration structure.
